Wireless Sensors for Buildings, Plants & Remote Assets

Energy data tells you what a building consumed. Sensor data tells you why — the temperature, humidity, pressure, level, leak and occupancy readings that turn a consumption anomaly into a specific, fixable cause.

Our sensor range is battery-powered and wireless, so points that were never worth cabling become measurable: cold rooms, tanks, remote pressure taps, crawl spaces, riser cupboards and outdoor assets.

Choosing sensors

  • Start from the decision, not the sensor. Decide what action a reading will trigger — an alert, a work order, a billing entry — and specify only the points that drive one.
  • Pressure and level for tanks, filters, pumps and compressed-air systems, such as the ALTA 300 PSIG wireless pressure sensor and the ALTA industrial ultrasonic ranging sensor for non-contact level.
  • Analogue bridges such as the 0-20 mA wireless input bring an existing 4-20 mA transmitter onto the wireless network without replacing it.
  • Check the reporting interval against battery life. Battery life quoted in years assumes a reporting interval; halving the interval does not halve the life, but frequent reporting on a cold outdoor node will disappoint.
  • Plan the gateway first. Sensors are useless without coverage — see connectivity.

Where sensing pays

Cold chain and compliance logging replaces clipboard rounds; condition monitoring on pressure, vibration proxies and runtime turns reactive maintenance into scheduled work; leak and level sensors protect assets that energy metering never sees. Wireless Sensors for Buildings, Plants & Remote Assets — FAQ

Common questions about this category.

How long do wireless sensor batteries last?
Multi-year life is normal at typical reporting intervals of 10 to 60 minutes, with the exact figure depending on interval, radio range, and temperature. Cold environments and very frequent reporting shorten it most, so specify the interval you actually need rather than the fastest the sensor supports.
What can wireless sensors monitor?
Temperature, humidity, pressure, level and distance, leak and water presence, door and occupancy state, CO2 and air quality, current via CT clamp, pulse counts from utility meters, and generic 4-20 mA or resistive inputs from existing instrumentation.
Do wireless sensors work alongside submeters?
Yes, and that is the usual deployment. Meter data and sensor data land in the same dashboard on a common time base, which is what lets you correlate a consumption spike with a door left open, a filter loading up, or a room drifting out of setpoint.
What infrastructure do wireless sensors need?
A gateway within radio range and a network server. One LoRaWAN gateway typically covers a whole building or campus and supports dozens to hundreds of sensors, so the infrastructure cost is fixed rather than per point.
